Inclement Weather

The following is the rationale and the considerations behind the decision on whether or not to delay or close school due to inclement weather. We know these decisions impact families throughout the District who may need to find alternative care for their children. The over-riding consideration in making these decisions is the safety of our students, staff and others in the community. Beyond that, the process becomes more complicated.

Principal's Welcome Message

Maia Fastabend, Principal

Welcome to Gib Olinger Elementary School, home of the Pioneers.  I am the principal, Maia Fastabend.  We are excited for the upcoming school year and the growth students will continue to make as they start their educational journey here at Gib during their first years as a MFUSD Pioneer!

At Gib, we are continuing our focus in the areas of student academic growth, social-emotional learning, and making everyday count by being present. We have a strong team of teachers and support staff who are here to assist your child in their journey to success. Students will be participating in a daily schedule that includes core content in math, reading, and writing through the use of the curriculum Ready Math and Wonders. Students will also get to experience electives in the area of Music, Library, and PE.

At Gib we believe in open communication and building relationships with every child. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. The partnership you build with your child’s teacher will strengthen the success of your child.  We also have two behavior support specialists available, Mr. Grant Wright and Ms. Yesenia Truijllo if you or your child are experiencing difficulties with issues at school, attendance, or in the home.

My office is always open to parents and students, please contact me if you have any concerns, questions, or suggestions, and even when you have praise.  You can call me anytime at 541-938-8700.
